The story “Becky and the wheels and brake boys” was written by James Berry. This story was about a girl named Becky who wanted a bike, but her mother say no every time she asks her and Becky keeps begging her mother to get a bike. Becky is a credible character because of how she acts, feels, and says. There are three reasons why.

The first one was that she begs her mom for a brand new bicycle just like the one Ben has. This is one of the things she does throughout the story until the end “Over and over I told my mom I wanted a bike”. This also shows credibility because she acts begging, kids often do this.

The next one is that she fights her friend and get mad at her for what she did. Becky does this in the middle of the story. What she feels is mad; what she does is fight. “For the first time Shirnette and I had a fight in school because of what I hated the most.” What had happened was her friend brought a cockroach to school and let it jump all over her. Becky got really mad at her and didn’t want to talk to her. This shows credibility because of how she feels, lot of people have feelings.

The final one is that she asks the boys if someone would teach her to ride a bicycle. She does this near the end of the story what she says was to ask for help “can someone teach me how to ride a bike?” She really wanted a bicycle by now and so since she was so desperate she tried to sell her dad’s hat. This show credibility because most people can talk people who can’t talk is mute.

In the end of the story the fireman takes her back home and talked to her mother. After she tried to sell the hat he drove her home and talked to her after a while they drove to his house “and mystery mystery he drove us to his house” the fireman came out with a brand new bike. With Ben seeing the bike he taught her how to ride and they because friends so did the fireman and her mom
